Underground Railroad

The 1840s Bierbower House in Mason County, purportedly a stop on the Underground Railroad.

The Underground Railroad Advisory Council was established to assist with the identification, documentation and promotion of sites associated with the Underground Railroad in Kentucky.  The 13-member council serves as an advisory body to the Kentucky African American Heritage Commission and is assisting in the creation of a registry as the first step in a unified approach toward developing a master plan for heritage tourism opportunities throughout the state.
