Site Profiles
Introductions
The Kentucky Heritage Council and Kentucky Archaeological Survey are compiling profiles of archaeological sites across the state. This includes sites that are accessible to the public or may be seen from a public place, and sites that either no longer exist or are no longer endangered.
Caption top: Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site preserves a Native American village from the Late Prehistoric period in Ballard County.
Site Profiles are created and updated by KHC/KAS staff and professional archaeologists, curators and scholars. Each profile contains contact information and summary descriptions for educators and the general public, as well as a variety of related content such as web links, documents, curriculum guides, images and many other resources for personal and educational use. Use three scroll lists to find an archaeological site by time period, name or county!
Caption bottom: Archaeologists have conducted extensive excavations at Riverside, which have helped to preserve this historic plantation from the Antebellum period in Jefferson County.
