Mother Goose, Route 476, Hazard, 1940. The Mother Goose
is a local landmark in Perry County. The Goose was built to serve as a house for George Stacy, who modeled the building after a goose he had shot.
Later, he added a grocery store and gas station below the house. No doubt the Goose then served to attract the attention of passing motorists. The windows are shaped like goose eggs, and the goose, which forms the roof of the building, appears to be sitting on her nest.
