World Monuments Fund
Along with the University of Kentucky College of Design, Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation and Bluegrass Conservancy, the Kentucky Heritage Council successfully partnered in an effort to add the Bluegrass Cultural Landscape to the World Monuments Fund (WMF) 2006 Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites. The first major initiative of this collaboration came in April 2007 with the opening of the Vanishing Bluegrass exhibit at the Kentucky Derby Museum [ ], where it will remain on display through December 2007 before traveling to New York and other venues then returning to Kentucky in 2009.
The World Monuments Fund [ ] is the only international private, nonprofit organization devoted to onsite conservation of irreplaceable historic monuments, art and architectural sites. This designation of more than 1.23 million acres recognizes that the central Kentucky Bluegrass region is a world-class, world-renowned landscape worthy of preservation.
