Internship and Certificate Program

​​The Kentucky Heritage Council's Internship Program provides college students with professional experience in different areas of historic preservation. Under the supervision of KHC staff, participants learn the fundamentals and methods of governmental preservation work while developing skillsets applicable to their future careers.

Intern positions are unpaid, but may qualify for academic credit if an agreement is made between KHC and the intern's university or college. Positions are offered by the semester (spring, summer, or fall) and candidates may select from a series of program tracks (see below).

Upon successful completion,​ you will receive a Kentucky Heritage Council “Historic Preservation Certificate" recognizing you have been trained in accordance with SHPO standards and have demonstrated proficient skills in the respective program track.
